Seravalli went further to say that he is ineligible to return to the NHL at this time and would need the blessing from NHL commissioner Gary Bettman to sign with the Bruins or another organization.
It's been a wild year for Lucic as he had hoped that his return to the Bruins would be his final stop and return to the team that drafted him after 17 years in the NHL.
Shortly after the season began, he was forced to take a leave of absence as he was charged with assault on his spouse which was later dropped.
During that time, he entered the NHL players assistance program to help him with his alcohol troubles.
Now that many know he is training in New Jersey it's uncertain if any NHL team would be willing to take a chance on him due to his legal troubles that were facing him even though he was acquitted. Many have questioned his ability to play in the NHL due to his age and that he has slowed down considerably over the past two years.
He signed a one-year contract with the Bruins which has now expired and during his career, he has played 1177 games with several organizations including the Calgary Flames, the Bruins, the Oilers and the Los Angeles Kings.
