Montgomery Reveals Why The Bruins Released This Player From His Contract
Boston Bruins' head coach, Jim Montgomery, shed light on the team's decision to release veteran winger Alex Chiasson from his professional tryout (PTO) contract. While Chiasson brought experience and skill to the ice, the competition within the Bruins' camp was fierce, ultimately leading to this choice.
Montgomery emphasized that Chiasson's departure wasn't solely due to a shortfall in his performance, stating,
"I don't know if he came up short. I think it's more a lot of guys are having really good camps, you know?"
The training camp has featured several players showcasing their abilities, making it a challenging decision for the coaching staff.
The Bruins' decision to release Chiasson was also motivated by a desire to provide him with the opportunity to explore other options in the league. Montgomery noted,
"And it's just coming down to numbers and we felt that this would give him the best opportunity maybe to catch on somewhere else."
