An NHL insider has just revealed that the Boston Bruins may have officially moved on from Jim Montgomery, and fired him.

It was only a matter of time with how the Boston Bruins have been playing this year that a move gets made, and the Bruins reportedly have made one.

According to Rich Keefe the Boston Bruins have fired head coach Jim Montgomery.

Scoops: Jim Montgomery out, Joe Sacco to take over.

Well Keefe was the first one to report Hampus Lindholm's injury, he isn't the best source, so take this with a grain of salt.

Once an official word is made from a bigger insider who is more trusted, we will report it, but for now take this with a grain of salt.

BREAKING FROM #SCOOPSKEEFE: Jim Montgomery is OUT. Joe Sacco will take over as head coach.

It's been stated multiple times this season already that Don Sweeney is looking to make a massive change, and now he did according to Rich Keefe.

There were rumours that a big blockbuster trade was on the way, but there were also rumours that Montgomery could be on his way out.

And according to Keefe they are moving on from Jim Montgomery. This doesn't mean there isn't still a chance a big trade happens.

This could just be the beginning of something bigger for the Boston Bruins, but for now they have made change like they said they were going too.

It's become clear in the Bruins previous couple of games that he has lost the room with the Bruins, and it was time to move on from him.

This does not mean that Montgomery is or was a terrible head coach at all, he had a lot of regular season success, but was never able to transform that into the playoffs.

Moreover, Montgomery will not be without a job for long, he was a great head coach, just didn't fit the Boston Bruins.

The Boston Bruins went out in the off-season making some big moves to be a more competitive team this year, but are barley in a playoff position.

The team currently sits in the second wildcard spot, barley holding on to it, and if nothing was done, chances are they were going to miss the playoffs.

Montgomery had an incredible record with the Bruins and it's not all his fault, but change was needed, and unfortunately the head coach is always the first one to go.

Best of luck to Jim Montgomery in his future positions and thank you for everything you brought to the Bruins organization.
