Today rookie camp has started for the Boston Bruins and they revealed the players listed on their rookie camp, but according to the roster they have revealed, three big named Bruins prospects will not be attending the Prospect Challenge in Buffalo.
After revealing their rookie camp roster, many realized that Fabian Lysell, Brandon Bussi and Georgii Merkulov all are not on the list, hinting that they will not be attending the Prospect Challenge.
This is an interesting move for the Bruins if it is true, as all three of these players will be fighting for a roster spot this year.
There have been some reports that Lysell could be taking Jake DeBrusk's spot on the second line right wing, but he will have to earn it. Since being drafted by the Boston Bruins, Lysell has yet to see anytime in the NHL.
Merkulov got to see a bit of NHL action last year with the Boston Bruins appearing in four games, where he did not register a point before being sent back down to the AHL.
Brandon Bussi has yet to see any games in the NHL as well. He was called up for a few games last year after Linus Ullmark was out with an injury, but only served as a backup to Jeremy Swayman. Don Sweeney made it clear that the backup position is up for grabs this year, and whoever deserves it between Brandon Bussi, and Joonas Korpisalo will get it.
