On Thursday, a meeting between two Original Six teams grabbed attention as Boston Bruins' captain Brad Marchand found himself in the spotlight again.

This time, it was due to his questionable trip on Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren.

The controversial play resulted in Liljegren leaving the game with an injury, leading many Maple Leafs fans to call for NHL's Department of Player Safety to take action.

However, as of the following day after 5 pm ET, the NHL did not impose any fines or scheduled a hearing for Marchand.

Cooler heads seem to have prevailed, with the situation likely attributed to two players battling for the puck.

While the play wasn't ideal, former players have suggested it was a part of the game. Despite protests from Leafs fans on social media, it appears to be a sensible decision by all parties involved.
