His contract with CNKA Moscow of the KHL has been abruptly terminated, rendering him a free agent. Despite this, his NHL rights remain under the Flyers' jurisdiction.

Forced into military service in Russia, he missed the entirety of the previous season. Upon his return, he signed with CSKA Moscow, triggering a violation of IIHF regulations.
