Matt Beleskey's days with the Boston Bruins could be numbered as the team gets closer to full health.
Defenseman Adam McQuaid has been out of action since breaking his right fibula while blocking a shot against the Vancouver Canucks on October 19. He was given an eight week timetable to return and he seems to be right on schedule.
McQuaid skated on his own before Friday's morning skate as he works on his conditioning. The next step will be getting cleared for contact and taking part in team drills.
Forward Ryan Spooner was placed on injured reserve on Thursday, but he is not expected to miss much time and should be back at some point next week.
This means the Bruins will have to make a roster move to make room for both of these players. The two likely candidates to be heading to Providence are Beleskey and Frank Vatrano, but it is Beleskey who should be the odd man out.
Both players would have to clear waivers in order to be reassigned to the American Hockey League and there is a good chance that Vatrano would be claimed. If someone were to claim Beleskey, which is unlikely, they would be doing the Bruins a big favor!
