GM Stan Bowman will have to do an about-face to save any shred of credibility he has left, after losing Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg to the St. Louis Blues.

He will have to turn to the free-agent market, which has been picked apart and has scant pieces left.

However, one of those pieces left is former Bruins defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk, by all means, is surprisingly un-signed still.

Shattenkirk has been a net positive to the Anaheim Ducks and Boston Bruins, which is all the more puzzling as to why he's currently without a home.

Shattenkirk is a reliable two-way defenseman, while not the same player during his prime could be an affordable veteran presence elsewhere.

Shattenkirk played 61 games with the Bruins, scoring 24 points(6 G, 18 A) and could be a great option for Bowman and the Oilers after losing Broberg this past week.

The defenseman has plenty of playoff experience to add to the Oilers, as they still consider themselves cup-contenders as well.
