The Boston Bruins are all but set to start the 2019-20 season besides a big black cloud looming over the team one month before.
Restricted free agents Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo remain without contract and the Bruins only have $7.2million in salary cap space to address the situation.
There's been chatter the Bruins might try to pull off a salary dump trade, however at this time of the year it's easier said than done.
Bruins President Cam Neely says the team is ready to go to training camp without both McAvoy and Carlo.
"We do have to plan and prepare for these players to not be atcamp opening day," Neely told NBC Sports' Joe Haggerty.
"But we have five, six weeks hopefully to get something done. We feel like we should be able to get something done with both of these guys at numbers that make sense for us, and hopefully makes sense for them. I think we've done a really good job of kind of managing the cap and making sure that we're OK to get these guys done."
