Joe Sacco speaks on Charlie McAvoy's Mysterious Injury That Landed Him On Injured Reserve
The Boston Bruins will be without Charlie McAvoy due to an undisclosed injury. Joe Sacco has explained the situation but hasn't delved into what caused it.
The Boston Bruins have placed defenseman Charlie McAvoy on injured reserve retroactive to January 11th today.
The Bruins will be without McAvoy as a result of a nagging injury that has resulted in the team needing to keep him out of the lineup.
The Bruins have yet to specify what McAvoy's injury is, but this IR placement reveals that the right-shot blueliner will be missing some time for the Original Six club.
In addition to McAvoy being placed on IR, they have made some major moves in order to bolster the lineup.
The Bruins also announced that Mark Kastelic was placed on injured reserve, while Hampus Lindholm has been placed on long-term injured reserve retroactive to Nov. 12. In addition, prospects Matt Poitras and Michael Callahan have been recalled. Losing McAvoy will be trouble for the Bruins who need to keep the campaign for a playoff spot alive, as they're now 4th in the Atlantic Division with a record of 21-19-5.
Tonight, they'll face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning, one of the best teams in the Atlantic, and gaining 2 points would help the team gain the confidence needed to put them back on track.
The Bruins will be without their top defenseman in the lineup as Andrew Peeke, and Nikita Zadarov will occupy the top pair, while McAvoy gets some time to rest and heal.
McAvoy has played 45 games for the Bruins this season up until his nagging injury and has scored 20 points, ( 5 G, 15 A), 77 hits, and 86 blocks.
