Gary Bettman has a bad reputation of signing new deals that do not benefit the league at all, and his most recent one almost costed the NHL millions of dollars.

Some of the deals Gary Bettman signs make you wonder if he is trying to hurt the league or help it, like jersey and TV deals that make you question how this will help the league.

The NHL has signed a deal with Fanatics to take over their jersey's for this year, and Fanatics has a terrible reputation for making low quality jerseys.

This most recent move is another one that makes you question his decision making.

New broadcasting deals were just signed by the NHL and NBA with Diamond Sports Group, which is the exact same company that owns Bally Sports.

After closing the deal with the NHL DSG (Diamond Sports Group) is now facing the challenge of bankruptcy.

«We are appreciative of the ongoing collaboration and long-term partnerships with the NBA and NHL, David Preschlack, Diamond's CEO, said in a statement. These new agreements that cover NBA and NHL linear and (direct-to-consumer) rights are another major milestone and continue Diamond's momentum toward emergence, which will enable us to provide value for our NBA and NHL partners and continue to serve dedicated local NBA, NHL and MLB fans.»

There was a hearing set for September 3rd, and as of today there has been no update on the situation, and it is still on going.
