Latest Report May Have Revealed That The Boston Bruins Have Had Enough Of Brad Marchand

The news regarding Boston Bruins Captain Brad Marchand continues to develop. Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic has the latest on the Bruins' relationship with Marchand.
The Boston Bruins Captain Brad Marchand will be finished with his eight-year $49 million contract he signed in 2016, this July.
There's been no news regarding an extension with the team's Captain, as typically GM Don Sweeney and the players involved keep their lips shut during negotiations.
With Marchand due a raise from his $6.125 million AAV, and the Bruins wanting to extend the Captain to only on a year-to-year basis, the two sides may diverge.
If they continue to struggle for a playoff spot, Fluto Shinzawa believes, the team could end up dealing him to start the retool.
«If they think it'll help the team,» one hockey operations executive, granted anonymity to discuss a player not under his team's control, said when asked if the Bruins will trade Marchand. «All bets are off.»
Marchand could stick around if he and the team could come to an agreement on terms and AAV. But it looks like he'd have to take another team discount to stick around, which might not be disagreeable for the former Stanley Cup champion.
But, with the possibility of the team missing out on a playoff spot they could stand to trade Marchand.
Elliotte Friedman cited Shinzawa's report on the possibility of trading the Captain.
«If he's floating that out there that says to me that there's probably some truth to at least the fact the Bruins may be thinking about is that day coming if they can't sign him.»
Marchand has played 50 games for the Bruins this season and scored 37 points ( 17 G, 20 A). Could this season be the last for him in a Bruins uniform?
He currently makes $6.125 million AAV and will be a pending UFA in July.
