Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand has been the headline of Bruins players that are set to be unrestricted free agents at the end of the year, but he isn't the only impactful player that is set to hit the open market.
The former 2016 first-round pick is not having the greatest season with the Bruins, but the mixture of physicality and skill he brings is making him a sought-after player as the trade deadline approaches.
Frederic has been involved in a lot of trade rumours this year, and it was revealed that if there is no extension in place by the trade deadline, the Bruins will more then likely trade him rather then lose him for nothing.
With all the rumours going around Trent Frederic, he finally opened up and spoke about what he wants his future to look like.
Frederic Gets Honest Speaking About His Future
Just like Brad Marchand, Trent Frederic is hoping that after this season he can continue to call TD Garden his home.
«That's been my goal. I really like playing here. I like the guys. I like all the staff,» Frederic told reporters Monday, per Boston.com. «I'm obviously aware of the situation, being a UFA, not having a deal. I'm not oblivious to that. I don't think like that. I'm not going to. If something happens, I'll react off that.»
It's not certain that Frederic will get traded at the NHL trade deadline, but there is a good chance during the off-season the 27-year-old will have the opportunity to see what's available.
But Frederic has other worries other then his contract status. He stated he isn't focused on that but instead is focused on trying to help the organization make the playoffs.
