Al Trautwig, former New York Knicks and New York Rangers announcer on the MSG Networks, has passed away at the age of 68.

Longtime NHL and Rangers broadcaster Al Trautwig has passed away at 68 years old ❤️
Trautwig was set to turn 69 years old in two days.
Alan Haun of MSG Network, Trautwig's successor, shared a touching tribute on his X page.
I'm sad to share the news that we lost a legendary voice in sports. But we lost a lot more than that.

He was not only a friend, but a mentor and a teacher. He was, personally, one of my biggest resources of support when I moved into this career.

Rest in peace, @AlTrautwig. 💔
Everybody in the community is sharing their heartfelt thoughts as Trautwig was a beloved member of TV.
Al was a post and pre-game host for the New York Knicks, New York Rangers, and New York Yankees broadcasts covering three different sports.
Al took an extended break in 2019, but never returned.
In an article from Neil Best from Newsday a year ago in 2024, it was believed Trautwig was battling cancer. Al continued to teach, though, at Adelphi University next to Long Island, his hometown, but never returned to on-air television.
Al announced boxing, cycling, football, and tennis. And he announced gymnastics from the year's 2000 to 2016 in the Olympics.
He also was apart of the movie 'Cool Runnings,' where he was in the film with a cameo of himself announcing in the story of the 1988 Jamaican bobsled team and how the team made it to the Olympics.
Al was truly one of a kind, and we send our condolences.
