The acquisitions of Matt Beleskey and Jimmy Hayes were two of the first major moves in the Don Sweeney era and it is easy to say that both of them were flops.

Hayes had the final year of his contract bought out during the offseason and his currently playing for the New Jersey Devils while Beleskey toils in the American Hockey League with the Providence Bruins.

However, if you listen to Beleskey, he is hoping that his time in Providence leads to another shot in the NHL with the Bruins.

"It's tough any time going through what I went through in Boston," Beleskey told Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald. "You don't play for a whole month and then to get back on the ice, it's tough just to get your feet under you. But I'm pretty confident, doing extra work with Jay and stuff. I've always said that if I put the work in, good things are going to happen.

"I think if you looked at preseason and the beginning of the year, everyone looks good, looks fast. But the ice time wasn't there and the next thing you know, you're out of the lineup. And when you're not playing games, you're playing catch-up the whole time. That seems to be what happened.

"I think my speed is where it needs to be. Obviously I'm still working on it and I'm working on it every day."

Beleskey has three goals in his nine games since being sent down the AHL last month. Do you see any scenario in which he returns to Boston this season?
