Ottawa Senators assistant head coach Bob Jones tragically passed away

Ottawa Senators made a tragic announcement yesterday after hearing about the passing of assistant head coach Bob Jones.

Tragic news has struck the Ottawa Senators and the hockey community following an announcement as assistant head coach Bob Jones has passed away.

An official report was made this morning from the Ottawa Senators organization confirming that Bob Jones, an assistant head coach for the Ottawa Senators has passed away at the young age of 54.

The official statement from the Ottawa Senators:

We are saddened to learn of the passing of former Assistant Coach Bob Jones after his battle with ALS.

Our condolences to his wife Paige, children Blake and Brianna as well as all those he influenced across his nearly 30 year coaching career.

Bob Jones sadly was fighting Lou Gehrig's disease which is also known as ALS, there currently is still no known cure for ALS, meaning Jones' diagnosis was a fatal one.

Bob Jones did not let this affect him, he did what he loved to do right up until the very end.

Rest in peace Bob Jones, our condolences are with his family and loved ones through this tough time.
