The Ottawa Senators and general manager Pierre Dorion have had one of, if not the best, offseason in the entire NHL.
Already with a very talented young core, Ottawa is primed to continue the upward trend we saw from them last season. Now, to add to his club, Dorion has made yet another amazing free agent signing.
$1.35 million is an absolute steal for a player like Tyler Motte. The 27-year-old is one of those regular bottom-six players who can play up and down your lineup when needed. He excels and is penalty-killing, and he also showed he could score big goals during the 2021 postseason with the Vancouver Canucks.
Originally a fourth-round (121st overall) selection by the Blackhawks in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Motte has appeared in 269 games with Chicago, Columbus Blue Jackets, Vancouver Canucks and the New York Rangers and collected 35 goals and 27 assists.
