With the 2023 Trade Deadline come and gone, the NHL has realized key problems when it comes to making trades and the league's hard salary cap.

However, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, several interesting topics will be heavily discussed when general managers meet for the Board of Governors meetings next Monday in Florida.

He shared the details in his latest (written) version of his 32 Thoughts. As per Friedman:

''As of Wednesday afternoon, hadn't heard about agenda items for the meetingsbut things that seem to be on people's radar: the lengthy trade-related sabbaticals this season; decreasing the exhibition season (which could lead into a schedule conversation, but I'm not convinced Commissioner Bettman is crazy about 84 games); playoff points of officiating emphasis; how to make three-way trades less-complicated. No doubt there are things I'm forgetting or not yet aware of. I believe there is growing consternation about Arizona's roster, but the GMs are not going to be able to solve that. That's a governors' issue, and we'll see how they feel.'

One point that stands out is that the league's managers want to find a way to make three-team trades easier, as it's possible that many deals fell through this year because of how difficult they are.

Hopefully, some big, but positive changes are coming for the NHL!
