Seven former NHL players apparently had their contracts terminated out of nowhere today.

A report was made earlier today from a American Hockey League insider Ton yAndrockitis, that the KHL club Barys Astana has officially terminated the contracts of several of their high-profile players, including former players that played in the NHL.

Some of the most notable names that got their contracts terminated from the Barys Astana were former New Jersey Devils forward Michael McLeod who is going through some legal trouble after what happened during the 2018 World Juniors. Wade Allison, Nathan Beaulieu, Will Butcher, Chase De Leo, Alex Grant, and CJ Smith were notable names that also got their contract terminated.

Androckitis had this to say:

Hearing this afternoon KHL club Barys Astana has cleaned house of its import players, terminating contracts of several players including F Wade Allison, D Nathan Beaulieu, D Will Butcher, F Chase De Leo, D Alex Grant, F Michael McLeod & F CJ Smith.

Barys Astana is based in Astana, Kazakhstan and is dead last in the KHL right now with just three wins to start the season in 16 games so far. Michael McLeod was the teams leading goal scorer with three goals and six points in 15 games for the team.

It's not clear on why the Barys Astana went on a clearing out spree terminating multiple players contracts, but once we find out we will be sure to inform you! Stay tuned for further details.
