Boston Bruins fans were disappointed this morning to learn that Charlie McAvoy has been placed on IR, but luckily the Bruins will get a defenseman back tonight.
Torey Krug will officially return to the lineup tonight and be paired up with John Moore and will try and help the Bruins bounce back from a 3-0 shutout loss to the Montreal Canadiens. He'll have to do it even if he's still not feeling 100%.
"If (Cassidy) makes the decision to put me in, I'm going to be ready," Krug said. "I don't feel 100 percent, but I feel about as good as I could for the circumstances. ... I'm excited to be part of the group again."
Head coach Bruce Cassidy has decided to give Jaroslav Halak the start tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes. Halak is coming off his second shut out of the season as he blanked the Philadelphia Flyers last Thursday.
Bruins forward David Pastrnak is tied for second in the league with 10 goals so far this season and has 11 points in 10 games against the Hurricanes in his career.
Scott Darling will make his first start of the season for the Hurricanes after being on injured reserve to start the season. It could be a good spot for the Bruins as Darling had a pretty disastrous 2017-18 season with a 13-21-7 record along with a 3.18 goals against average and .888% save percentage.
