Completed trade between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins changes everything

A completed trade between two divisonal rivals, the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs changed things for both teams.

Yesterday on the 18th of September in 2009, the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs combined for a trade that would send Phil Kessel to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In return the Boston Bruins would get a 2010 first-round pick, a 2011 first-round pick, and a 2010 second-round pick.

The most notable players those picks turned out to be was Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton.

On this day in 2009: Boston traded Phil Kessel to Toronto for a 2010 1st round pick (Tyler Segiun), a 2011 1st round pick (Dougie Hamilton) and a 2010 2nd round pick.

Tyler Segiun would play three years with the Boston Bruins before being traded to the Dallas Stars. The Boston Bruins traded Tyler Seguin, Rich Peverly, and Ryan Button to the Dallas Stars for Loui Eriksson, Reilly Smith, Joe Morrow, and Matt Fraser.

Dougie Hamilton would also play with the Boston Bruins before being traded to the Calgary Flames. The Boston Bruins traded defenseman Dougie Hamilton to the Calgary Flames in exchange for the 15th, 45th and 52nd overall picks in the 2015 NHL entry draft.
