The Calgary Flames of course have been down and out since the team dealt Matthew Tkachuck for Jonathan Huberdeau and a slew of assets in 2022. The Flames haven't made the playoffs since.
Conroy has shifted gears and put the team into rebuild mode, which has resulted in their top-scoring forward, Nazeem Kadri wanting out of Calgary.
The 75-point scorer would be willing to make a move and help the team out, but the situation has to be preferable for Kadri.
Why not the Bruins? They're perennial contenders and could use another top-six forward.
This would have to be how the trade goes down, as Kadri wouldn't waive his no-movement clause, unless it'd be the right situation of course which the Bruins very well could be the contenders to lure him.
This could be ideal for the Flames, as they could receive in return prospects and picks for the Forward, and Kadri goes to a contender.
The 34-year-old's contract could be a sticking point for Conroy and the Flames however, as Conroy could receive a better package if he retains any salary for Kadri. Kadr's current contract comes in at $7 M AAV, for the next five years.
His contract could be considered one of the worst in the NHL, much like Huberdeau's situation with the Flames too.
But unlike Huberdeau, he has rebounded production in 2023-2024, so he could benefit from playing with Marchand on the 2nd line, or Pastrnak on the first.
