Michael DeRosa of The Hockey News has stated that former Bruins forward James van Riemsdyk maybe on the radar of the Utah hockey club.

The 35-year-old winger had a solid season of production with the Bruins as he played 71 games, scored eleven goals with 27 assists for 38 points and was a + 7. Van Riemsdyk has declined over time and has become less effective especially on the offensive side of the game.

The Utah hockey club is looking for veteran players who can help their youngsters grow together with the leadership quality and help ride offence especially on secondary scoring. The Bruins gave van Riemsdyk a $1 million contract last year and it's likely that Utah will give him something similar if interested.

Utah has plenty of cap space as they have $9.9 million available and have already fulfilled their roster of 23 players. Adding van Riemsdyk would certainly bolster their bottom 6 and potentially on their secondary power play unit as his big body would be able to sit in front of the goaltender and help deflect pucks into the net which is one of his specialties.

It remains to be seen if general manager Bill Armstrong would be interested.
