Jake Guentzel has officially been placed on the trade market and if the Boston Bruins want to acquire someone of his caliber they will have a big price to pay.
When the Hurricanes brought Jake Guentzel in, he didn't have an extension in place and the team thought they would have a good chance to work one out with him, but things have taken a turn for the worst for the Carolina Hurricanes.
Recent reports have revealed that Guentzel will be testing the free agent market this off-season as negotiations have failed between his team and the Hurricanes.
Elliotte Friedman revealed the asking price for teams interested in acquiring him. They are asking for a first-round pick for his signing rights.
The Boston Bruins don't have a 1st round pick until next year in the 2025 draft, and even if they were to trade that pick to Carolina it still doesn't mean that Guentzel will re-sign with the team as come July 1st he could still go to free agency.
Guentzel could be a game-changer for the Bruins as they are looking for secondary scoring and Guentzel is a multiple time 40-goal scorer, but at this price I don't think the Bruins should risk trading for him, just for him to walk in free agency anyways.
Do you think the Boston Bruins should trade their first-round pick next year for Jake Guentzel?
