One glaring change in these dates is that training camp will be pushed down to September 18th which was different than last year. The organization will be looking forward to their development camp as it's set to begin on July 1st through July 4th. This will give them a better idea of who could be ready to join the Bruins next year.
General manager Don Sweeney and his staff have been hard at work evaluating the team, preparing for the draft and making lists on who they will retain through contract extensions and who could be available in unrestricted free agency.
One order of business which is vital is the Bruins goaltending situation. Bruins starting goalie Jeremy Swayman show the organization that he took a step forward in his game as he took the Bruins to the second round of the playoffs.
He will be up for contract renewal, and it's been mentioned several times that he could be facing a huge payday and a long-term deal of eight years.
The Bruins will also need to decide on Linus Ullmark as the team will not want to tie up over $10 million in goaltending if Swayman gets the deal he wants. This could lead to a trade at the draft that could help the Bruins acquire picks, prospects or even a roster player as their centre position needs an upgrade and they do not hold any picks in the first three rounds of this year's draft.
It's quite possible that the Bruins may look very different next year, with 17 players locked in and potentialy over 21 million in cap space to spend, Sweeney will certainly do his job to give the Bruins another chance at a playoff and cup run next season.
