The GM Don Sweeney will have to exercise a trade to help shore up offensive capabilities, as they once again are running on fumes early it seems.
The team did add significant pieces in Elias Lindholm, and Nikita Zadarov. But are they truly the solution to all of the team's woes?
It seems to be a structural problem and a problem of the lack of talent as they've had to rely upon players like Mark Kastelic to generate offense. A notion that is troubling if you're not contending.
Of course, you want 4 lines who are capable, but when you're top-six is thin, it should be a red flag. One that GM Don Sweeney must be hiding somewhere?
One solution to help shore up an anemic production would be former Boston Bruins, now Chicago Blackhawk Ryan Donato.
Donato has been underutilized in Chicago, which is surprising as he's posted 6 points( 5 G, 1 A) in 9 games.
While Head Coach Luke Richardson has scratched him for players like Lukas Reichel, who have found their game. But not as reliable as Donato himself.
Donato scored two goals recently against the Colorado Avalanche in their sound 5-2 victory in Denver.
With the Bruins, they could utilize him immediately, and give him more responsibilities than just the bottom-six.
Give him a position in the top nine and find some chemistry and hopefully, Donato can find the net more than 16 times here in Boston.
Donato was selected 56th overallin 2014 by the Boston Bruins and saw him play 2 seasons in Boston before he was shipped off to Minnesota.
The Bruins can give him a nice homecoming, and he can give the Bruins some goals and assists.
