A Major Update Regarding Jake DeBrusk
In his first public comments since May, Boston Bruins' Jake DeBrusk shared his hope to remain with the team he's grown up with. DeBrusk, speaking at the Perry Pearn 3 vs. 3 Hockey Camp, expressed his wish, saying,
"I'm hoping to stay [with the Boston Bruins]. It's the only team that I know and the team that I grew up with."
His contract is set to end next July, and while he trusts his agent to handle negotiations, he's focused on an even better season ahead.
After a stellar season with 27 goals and 23 assists in 64 games, DeBrusk is aiming higher for the upcoming 2023-24 season. Despite facing contract discussions, he's confident and unfazed, stating, "I'm not too focused on that. I've kind of tested the waters before, and I'm just going to focus on hockey."
Looking ahead, the Bruins' General Manager, Don Sweeney, has substantial cap space, but future moves will depend on various factors. If the Bruins and DeBrusk align, a contract akin to Brandon Hagel's recent deal might be in the cards.
