Changes have come to the Boston Bruins this offseason, with some familiar faces departing. Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci are among those who bid farewell. Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno, recent additions to the team, have also moved on.

Brad Marchand and Charlie Coyle took a moment during the 2023-24 campaign's first captains' practice to acknowledge the business side of the NHL. Trades and retirements are part of the game, and the Bruins are no exception.

The Bruins didn't just say goodbye to old teammates; they welcomed new ones. Milan Lucic, James van Riemsdyk, and Kevin Shattenkirk joined the ranks.

Marchand spoke highly of these additions, emphasizing their leadership and character.

"It's something they (the Bruins) take a lot of pride in, the organization bringing good people, and they did that again this year," Marchand shared in the dressing room at Warrior Ice Arena.

Bergeron's retirement leaves a leadership void in the Bruins, but Marchand believes it will be filled collectively. While the team hasn't named a captain yet, Marchand and the veteran newcomers are poised to guide the way.

"When you have guys who have been around and played a long time, they just don't get bothered by little things. They don't have those big mountains and valleys; they're able to stay even-keeled," Marchand pointed out.

As training camp approaches on September 20, the Bruins are gearing up for the season. With two more captains' practices and preseason games on the horizon, the team is ready to face new challenges when the regular season kicks off on October 11 against the Chicago Blackhawks at TD Garden.
