The Boston Bruins announced on social media today the passing of former player Vic Stasiuk. Stasiuk was 93 years old, and played with the Bruins from 1955-1961. Stasiuk was a member of one of the most famous lines in Bruins history, and will be sorely missed.
Uke Line Loses a Legend
Stasiuk was a memebr of the "Uke" line, which consisted of himself, Johnny Bucyk, and Bronco Horvath. All three men were of Ukrainian heritage, and set an NHL record for all three members of a line having a 20 goal season in the same season.
In addition to playing for Boston, Stasiuk enjoyed time in Detroit and Chicago, and also served as a coach for the Philadelphia Flyers, California Golden Seals, and Vancouver Canucks. Stasiuk is a member of the Ukrainian Sports Hall of Fame, and will forever be a legend for both the Bruins franchise, and the country of Ukraine.
Rest in peace, Vic.
