Embarrassing moment for Utah moments before puck drop as Bruins fans outnumber Utah fans
An embarrassing moment unfolded for the Utah Hockey Club right before their first-ever game against the Boston Bruins. As Utah prepared to face the Bruins, a photo surfaced on social media showing that Boston Bruins fans heavily outnumbered Utah fans, even though the game was being played in Utah's home arena.
This is a big night for the new expansion team, as they're facing one of the NHL's most iconic teams for the first time. However, the scene in the stands wasn't quite what Utah hoped for.
This photo was taken just before warmups, and in the photo you can see a bunch of Bruins fans, and not many Utah fans, although the arena will more then likely fill as we get closer to puck drop.
For a new team, building a loyal fan base takes time, and it's understandable that an established team like the Bruins would have a large following. But seeing so many Bruins fans at a home game for Utah was certainly a disappointing sight for the club and its supporters.
Social media users quickly picked up on the image, with many pointing out the overwhelming presence of Bruins fans in Utah's own arena.
you mean this isn't a home game?! love it
Despite this, the Utah Hockey Club is still building its identity, and it's likely that as time goes on, the team will gain more local support. But it currently looks like the Boston Bruins have the home ice advantage.
