The 2023 NHL offseason is in full swing and the Boston Bruins will enter this summer knowing full well that next seasons team will look a lot different than the President Trophy winners who had a NHL record setting 135 points.

With that being said Don Sweeney is in bit of desperation mode, trying to pick and choose who stays and who goes. Having to mix up the roster may and will result in the Bruins losing key veterans and assets.

One of those key veterans is Nick Foligno who will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. Despite Foligno's leadership and grit he brought the Bruins throughout 2022-23, there is a chance that he may not be on the team in September.

In the event that Foligno does not return, Don Sweeney will need to figure how he would replace yet another player and it may be hard to replace such a strong presence in the locker room.

Who Should Replace Nick Foligno

Washington Capitals forward Conor Sheary looks to be a likely replacement for Nick Foligno. The 31 year old unrestricted free agent has spent his last three seasons with the Washington Capitals, in which Sheary played his final year of a 2 year, $3 million dollar with annual average value of $1.5 million per season.

In an offseason where the Bruins will need to save as much money as possible, Sheary would bring great value to the Bruins bottom six and could be signed to a team-friendly deal.

Conor Sheary this season netted 15 goals with 22 assists for a total of 37 points, playing in all 82 games for the Capitals. Sheary would be a great addition on the 3rd or even 4th line for the Bruins and head coach Jim Montgomery.
