Jeremy Swayman is literally the last piece of unfinished business the Bruins have to wrap up before the summer is over.

However, it was reported yesterday by Elliote Friedman, that neither side was close to a deal, despite the claims of Charlie Jacobs.

Jacobs, obviously was using the media in an attempt to save face or buy time with the fans and goalie, as we march ever closer to the start of training camp. The Bruins starting goalie has yet to ink a deal though.

Even after foregoing arbitration, what is the hold-up? Is it GM Don Sweeney's fault alone?

Arguably, he can share the blame as the goalie and agent Lewis Gross haven't found the term or money they like yet, or else we'd hear of how close to signing Swayman is.

Swayman's agent is the same as Torey Krug's agent which doesn't offer much hope, as far as negotiations go either.

«Jeremy loves Boston,» said Gross. «Jeremy loves being a Bruin. It's a great organization. He's a great, young, goaltender; confident as can be, and as good as he is on the ice. I was just with him in Boston and he's equally as good off the ice. He has time for everybody. We went to watch (University of) Maine play BU (Boston University) and I think it took us almost 30 minutes to get out of the building. He's actually such an incredible young man and I know the Bruins know that and we're gonna hope we work out the kind of deal that everybody will be happy with.»

Although these are perfect words to say, what have Gross's actions been like behind the scenes to stall the deal? What about Swayman?

There are two sides to every negotiation.
