It was clear after the Bruins lost to the Florida Panthers in the second round along with their first-round win against the Toronto Maple Leafs is that offence is the primary concern for the Bruins going into this offseason. The team went on long stretches, or they could not score two or more goals and bringing a player like Guentzel in would certainly help that situation.
The 29-year-old winger has been a constant force when he was with the Penguins and even the Hurricanes as he has been a consistent 30 goal or more scorer for the past three seasons. He also has a great defensive side to him as his plus minus has always been in the plus column through most of his career.
Guentzel has just completed a five-year $30 million contract where he held a cap hit of 6 million AAV. With seventeen players under contract and over $20 million in cap space, Sweeney certainly could afford to take a run at Guentzel as he continues to bolster his offence and look for depth and experience on his top six.
