Today he has cleared waivers, as he will re-join the Cleveland Monsters, the team he had been a Captain of the AHL Squad before he arrived in Columbus. Gaunce has been used sparingly and as a depth piece for the team throughout the years.
The move had been confirmed by Puckpedia and CapFriendly, and this is the 2nd time during the season Gaunce had cleared waivers.
He re-joined the Monsters in October and spent the majority of the season in the minors. To which he appeared in 46 games with the Monsters, scoring a career-high 19 goals in the AHL, totaling 39 points.
In his 24 appearances in the NHL this season with the Blue Jackets he only scored four points. The last time Gaunce spent this long in the NHL, was during the 2021-2022 season where he appeared in 30 games and scored seven points.
Gaunce had been on the NHL roster with the Jackets since March and will re-join the Monsters who are in the Eastern Conference Finals of the Calder Cup Playoffs.
He'll likely rejoin the team on the 2nd line offering the veteran leadership the team needs, as they will take on the Hershey Bears soon.
