A popular podcaster tweeted their thoughts on the upcoming season for the Boston Bruins as they expressed concern about Bruins centre Morgan Geekie as potentially the second line center.

The Empty Netters podcast feels that the Bruins will struggle this year if Geekie is chosen as the second line centre. This position has been the biggest concern for the Bruins as they are still reeling from the retirements of legendary Bruins centre Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.

This season they chose to put Pavel Zacha has the number one centre which had modest results and managed to get the Bruins into the playoffs, but many fans know that he is not the ideal number one choice. Bruins general manager Don Sweeney went out into free agency and managed to scoop up Elias Lindholm who was with the Vancouver Canucks who will now man the number one spot.

With Geekie as the number two, the Bruins are still quite thin down the middle and many feel that head coach Jim Montgomery will put Zacha on the wing.

Geekie played 76 games this past season, scoring 17 goals with 22 assists for 39 points and was a + 6. This was his best total thus far in his first year with the team. The Bruins however would need much more from him if they covered him at that position.

Unless Sweeney has a trade in the works, it's unlikely he will be able to get another centre in free agency as they only have $8.6 million in cap space and still must sign goaltender Jeremy Swayman who may command a hefty price tag.
