The Boston Bruins have been in the NHL for almost 100 years but this year's team is arguably the best there's ever been, especially if you ask Ray Bourque.
The Bruins' legend recently joined The Sports Hub Hockey Show Podcast of 98.5 and was asked what he thought of the 2022-23 team.
See what Bourque shared below:
''This season is a historical one for them. At the beginning of the year, nobody could have predicted this. You thought they'd be a playoff team, but being on top of their division or top of the league, I don't think it's something you could have predicted.''
'It's impressive they played well early in the season with Marchand and McAvoy out. And they haven't slowed down since the beginning. This is something that's hard to maintain during the whole course of an NHL season.''
It All Starts With the Leadership
Bourque played on some amazing teams throughout his career, capped off by winning the Stanley Cup in 2001 with the Colorado Avalanche. Because of that, he knows where all the success stems from, the Bruins leadership:
''So, this maturity with this team and the leadership is still solid with Bergeron, Marchand, and Krejci. The Czech line has been fun to watch. DeBrusk has been awesome. It's just been a magical season so far.''
Like many of us fans, Bourque also noted how excited he is to see this Boston team in the playoffs, and it's safe to say he's not the only one.
