The blood has been bad between the Bruins and their original six counterpart, but a new hatred has arisen.
It was between the Bruins and the Florida Panthers, two Atlantic Division teams who have met twice in the playoffs, and the cats have made short-work of the B's each time.
Of course, the Bruins took down their little brother Maple Leafs in the 1st round, in 7 games. So it seems like while the rivalry is still there, the intensity and passion surrounding the rivalry is gone.
As the Panthers won the Stanley Cup in 2023-2024, you can't help but feel disdain for the team.
The 1st year the rivalry even began, it was the 2023 playoffs with a recording breaking Bruins squad and they seemed destined to advance forward in the playoffs and yet, would succumb to the Paul Maurice led-Panthers.
This season, the Panthers won the cup even with a 0-2-2 record against the Bruins, but still couldn't finish the job in the playoffs.
Jim Montgomery will need to make major adjustment to defang the Panthers in 2024-2025 to have a successful year in the Atlantic Division.
