The Boston Bruins organization tragically lost a former player following an announcement.

Today it was revealed that former Boston Bruins player Dwight Foster has tragically passed away following an announcement.

Foster played his first four years in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins from 1977-1980 and then would later go on and play for the Bruins once again to finish his career in 1985-87.

The Boston Bruins were also the ones to originally draft Dwight Foster in the first-round with the 16th overall pick in 1977.

Foster would end up playing with multiple organizations throughout his career including the Boston Bruins, Colorado Rockies/New Jersey Devils, and the Detroit Red Wings.

Injuries continued to plague Foster with the Red Wings, but he did bounce back to score 17-goals his first year in Detroit, while being limited to 58 games. It would prove to be the high-water mark for games played during his time in Motown while he battled shoulder and knee injuries.

After playing a couple of seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, the Boston Bruins would re-acquire Foster in a trade with the Detroit Red Wings in return for Dave Donnelly.

Following Foster's death he will now be leaving behind four children Alex, Dwayne, Peter, and Genevieve.

Alex, Foster's kid would follow in his fathers footsteps and played professional hockey with the Toronto Marlies, and the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2006.

He is the son of former NHL player Dwight Foster and nephew of former NHL player Wes Jarvis. Prior to advancing to the professional ranks, Foster played both junior hockey and college hockey. He played his collegiate hockey at Bowling Green State University. After leaving college in 2006, he was signed to the Toronto Maple Leafs organization. He played for their farm team, the Toronto Marlies, occasionally being called into action for the NHL team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Our condolences go out to the Foster family, friends, and teammates Dwight leaves behind.
