Elliotte Friedman just confirmed whether or not the Boston Bruins claimed Arthur Kailyev off of waivers.
The Boston Bruins have been playing pretty decent hockey recently despite their 5-4 overtime loss to the New York Islanders, but it never hurts to get an extra boost for the future, and the Bruins could use it right now.
NHL insider Chris Johnston reported yesterday that the Los Angeles Kings have placed Arthur Kailyev on waivers a perfect opportunity for the Bruins to make a move, and make them a better team.
Everybody on the internet is jumping the gun, including Bruins fans, because Kailyev could be a high risk, high reward addition.
Kailyev is only 23 years old and is on contract for only the rest of this year and has a cap hit of only $775,000, the league minimum. He was the 33rd overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft by the Kings and was listed as an underdog pick going into that draft. Kailyev still has a really high upside even at 23.
Kailyev had a really impressive junior career and tore it up in the OHL and on select USA teams. His best junior season came in his draft year when he had 102 points in 67 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the OHL. One thing you could rely on was his shot.
Kailyev finally got a shot with Los Angeles two years after he was drafted with their AHL affiliate, the Ontario Region, and tallied 31 points in 40 games and ultimately earned himself a call up the season after.
In his rookie season in 2021, Arthur had 27 points in 80 games and continued down that same road the year after but scoring an impressive 28 points in only 56 games. That season would earn him a spot on the team last season and tallied 15 points in 51 games.
However, this year, he's only played five games with the Region, and then the Kings put him on waivers.
Now his fate with the Boston Bruins is confirmed after a report from Elliotte Friedman
Since it is now past the 2 p.m. deadline, his future was just determined.
Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Boston Bruins did not claim Kaliyev, but the New York Rangers did.
