The Boston Bruins Just Confirmed It For Matt Poitras And One Other Boston Bruin
Last night, the American Hockey League transactions saw that the Boston Bruins send Matt Poitras and Michael Callahan down to the Providence Bruins in the AHL.
Per AHL Transactions dated Feb. 9, 2025, the #NHLBruins have reassigned forward Matthew Poitras and defenseman Michael Callahan to the #AHLBruins. The NHL is going on a two week break for the Four Nations Faceoff tournament, and it makes sense to send both Poitras and Callahan down to the Providence Bruins.
With them going down there it will allow them to be able to play in games with the Bruins are on their break.
Poitras has been excellent for the Bruins since being recalled from the AHL. In 26 games this season Poitras has one goal, and 10 assists for 11 points. 7 of those 11 points have come since he got recalled early in January.
Callahan has been super solid for the Bruins, and it's hard to say that he doesn't deserve a spot in the Bruins lineup either. The 25-year-old played his first eight NHL games this season with the Boston Bruins. In those games he has 0 points, four hits, nine blocks and is a minus-2.

Today the Boston Bruins did confirm these transactions, revealing that both Matt Poitras and Michael Callahan have been reassigned to the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League.
Bruins make it official, announcing Poitras and Callahan sent to Providence for the break. Poitras no doubt will be back after the break. Callahan is questionable. Lindholm should be available after break. Callahan earned his spot in lineup but doesn't require waivers
Hopefully when the Bruins come back from their two week break due to the Four Nations Faceoff, both these players get recalled, as they have both definitely deserved it.
