Earlier the Boston Bruins announced a roster transaction in preparation to take on the Dallas Stars tonight.
It was announced that the Boston Bruins have called up their captain from the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League.
The team announced that Patrick Brown has been called up today as the Bruins gear up to take on the Dallas Stars and this has sent a message to Fabian Lysell.
Fabian Lysell was rumoured to begin the season with the Boston Bruins this year after losing Jake DeBrusk in the off-season, but that didn't happen.
Bruins management stated that Lysell would be one of the many players to receive a call up this year, but by then calling up someone like Brown over him, has sent a clear message.
This sends a message that the Bruins clearly aren't happy with where his game is at still and he needs to make some more improvements before seeing some time in the NHL with the Bruins.
For Patrick Brown, this will mark the first recall for the 32-year-old veteran who was placed on waiver by the Boston Bruins at the beginning of the regular season.
After clearing waivers Patrick Brown was named the captain of the Providence Bruins, and in 12 games with the Providence Bruins so far this year he has three goals four assists for 7 points.
Patrick Brown is currently on his final year of a two-year, $1.6 million contract he signed with the Boston Bruins in the off-season during the 2023 free agency.
The Bruins gave Brown multiple chances with the NHL squad last year, but ultimately he spent most of his time in the American Hockey League. Last year he appeared in 11 games for the Boston Bruins, have just one assist with a -3 rating.
Even though the Boston Bruins called Brown up, it's rumoured that he is going to sit in the press box tonight against the Dallas Stars.
