Travis Green and the Ottawa Senators will be without former Bruin and Vezina Trophy-winning goalie Linus Ullmark. Ullmark could be out for at least five games.

The Ottawa Senators and Travis Green will have to make due, as Vezina Trophy-winning goalie, Linus Ullmark remains out of the lineup for the next five games.

The team is currently 5th in the Atlantic Division, with an 18-14-2 record in the NHL, and will have to work to hold onto the Wild Card playoff spot they've edged out the Pittsburgh Penguins for.

The Senators extended their winning streak to three straight for the first time this season and moved into the final wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Sidney Crosby's Pittsburgh Penguins in front of 18,892 at the Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday night.

With the team inching their way into the playoffs, they'll now have to consolidate their lineup to remain consistent. But without their #1 goalie, it will be a difficult proposition as they have had to recall goalies Mads Sgaard and Leevi Merilainen to shore up the net while he's out on injured reserve.

The 2023 Jennings and Vezina Trophy winner is in the final season of a four-year, $20MM contract he signed with Boston as a free agent in 2021 but has a four-year, $33MM extension on the books to keep him in Ottawa through the 2028-29 campaign.

The two were called up from AHL Belleville, while #2 option Anton Forsberg has been out of the lineup since December 14th, with an undisclosed injury.

The news hits close to home, as the Senators have enjoyed the consistency Ullmark provides in net since he arrived in Ottawa during the summer.

he 31-year-old Swede has a 12-7-2 record with a .915 SV% and 2.38 GAA through 22 starts and one relief appearance.

If it wasn't for Ullmark, the Senators wouldn't be fighting for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference this season.

The team has 38 points, and an 18-14-2 record, with a 66.1% chance of making the playoffs according to MoneyPuck.

With Ullmark being out of the lineup, the Senators will have work doubly hard to remain in the playoff discussion, as Mads Sogard, and Leevi Merilainen aren't proven NHL goalies.
