One way to do that is looking at free agency and trading players, a team that will have a few free-agent targets available the Calgary Flames. The Flames do not have too many big-name free agents, but there are a handful that could really add some depth for the Bruins.
Michael Stone
One area that the Bruins should be focusing on is the right side of their defensive group. The depth on the right side was noticeably poor this season, and it could still get worse. This past season was a particularly solid one for the 33-year-old, as he had six goals, 11 points, and 54 hits in 48 games. Although these are not dominant statistics, they do show that he can make an impact when called upon.
Stone is a depth defenseman, the Bruins would have no cap issues with him signing him to a league-minimum deal. Adding a solid right handed defensemen would be a great addition from the Bruins and Don Sweeney.
A player who is unfortunately a down grade from
Nick Foligno,
Tomas Nosek, and
Garnet Hathaway all pending UFAs is Trevor Lewis. With no guarantee of the three being back the Bruins may have no choice with limited cap space. The Bruins should be in the market for at least one bottom-six forward, and that guy is Trevor Lewis. Lewis is far from a star, but he would provide the Bruins with another experienced fourth-line caliber forward. In order to even on the bottom lines.
Milan Lucic
Yes of course the fan favourite, Milan Lucic could be in discussion of coming back. The Bruins have the opportunity to bring back Milan Lucic this offseason if they wish to do so. It could be an avenue Sweeney considers this offseason with Foligno's future unknown. Elliotte Friedman also reported that the Bruins considered bringing back Lucic at the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline.
