Kevin Rooney officially gets placed on waivers today
Monday afternoon saw the Calgary Flames making a move on the waiver wire, with forward Kevin Rooney at the center of it.
As reported by TSN's Chris Johnston, the Flames have placed Rooney on waivers, intending to send him to the American Hockey League (AHL). This decision comes as Rooney, 30, has been sidelined for the entire 2023-24 season due to shoulder surgery conducted in early October.
"Placed on NHL waivers today: Kevin Rooney (CGY)." Johnston said.
The Massachusetts native, hailing from Canton, split his time between the Flames and their AHL affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers, last season. Despite his contributions, Rooney's journey takes a new turn with the recent waiver placement.
