NHL Star Shares Tragic News After Losing a Family Member
Detroit Red Wings' standout Dylan Larkin faced an unexpected shift as he was placed on the non-roster list just before the game against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday. This move indicated that whatever kept him out of the lineup was not injury-related. The somber truth emerged on Friday morning, delivering heartbreaking news to fans and reporters.
In a poignant announcement, the Wings' captain revealed that he and his wife Kenzy have tragically experienced the loss of the baby they were eagerly anticipating. Larkin had shared earlier this month on Instagram that they were expecting their first child, due in April.
However, Friday morning brought a comment from Larkin, providing a sorrowful update on the situation:
"This week, my wife and I said goodbye to our baby. It's hard to find words or positivity in this, but we greatly appreciate your support and understanding, and thank you for respecting our privacy."
The grief of losing a child is unparalleled, and here at the Hockey Feed, we extend our deepest sympathy to the Larkin family.
While Larkin will be eligible to return to action whenever he is ready, it is understandable that his priority now is to be with his wife Kenzy and embark on the healing process following this devastating loss.
Larkin's on-ice contributions have been notable, tallying eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 20 games, leading the Red Wings. As he contemplates a return, we hope he finds support within his dressing room.
In the previous season, Larkin achieved a career-high with 32 goals and 47 assists, totaling 79 points in 80 regular-season games. Currently in the first year of an eight-year, $69,600,000 contract extension signed in March, the focus for Larkin is understandably on personal healing and recovery during this challenging time.
