In an unexpected twist, Bo Horvat finds himself acquainting with Nassau County in an unanticipated manner. Horvat and his wife have been named as defendants in a lawsuit filed in the county's highest court.
NY Islander Bo Horvat and Plandome Manor are embroiled in a legal dispute related to a landfill decision. The lawsuit, on behalf of Eastern LLC, the property owner around Leeds Pond, seeks a reversal of a recent decision. The Village of Plandome Manor is also named in the lawsuit. The decision in question involves an area near the pond, approved by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) for use by Horvat and his wife for fill. The state DEC's belief that this activity won't adversely impact the pond accompanies this approval.
Opponents of the fill assert that it could inflict ecological damage upon the pond. The amount of fill required for the pond equates to 350 cubic yards. However, without an application, the Village permits only up to 50 cubic yards of fill.
While it remains unclear why the Horvats require the fill, court documents list Bo Horvat, who recently listed his Vancouver home following a trade from the Canucks to the Islanders. After undergoing a public hearing with legal representation, the Horvats were allowed to proceed with their plans.
