On this Thanksgiving Day in the NHL, a duo finds themselves on the waiver wire, including a Winter Olympian from 2022, as reported by Chris Johnston on the digital platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

In a succinct announcement, Johnston conveyed that goaltender Matt Tomkins of the Tampa Bay Lightning and forward Vinni Lettieri of the Minnesota Wild have been waived with the intention of being assigned to the American Hockey League.

"Vinni Lettieri (MIN) and Matt Tomkins (TB) placed on NHL waivers," noted Johnston.

Tomkins, 29, has participated in three games this season for the Lightning, boasting a record of 1-2-0, accompanied by a 3.40 goals against average and an .889 save percentage.

The move hints at the imminent return of Andrei Vasilevskiy, who has been sidelined this season due to injury.

Meanwhile, Lettieri, 28, has graced the ice in 11 games for the Minnesota Wild, tallying two goals, four penalty minutes, and a minus-four rating. Additionally, he has contributed to the Wild's AHL affiliate in Iowa with three points in four games.

The waiver decisions mark a noteworthy development as teams navigate the complexities of their rosters on this Thanksgiving occasion.
