Tom Wilson Gets Beat Up By Columbus Blue Jackets Goaltender
Tom Wilson, the big name in Capitals' forward line, is quite the stirrer on the ice.
Standing tall at 6'3" and weighing a solid 220 lbs, Wilson isn't one to back down from a confrontation, whether it's with the tough guys or, surprisingly, even goaltenders.
Elvis Merzlikins, the netminder for the Blue Jackets, got more than he bargained for, taking a hefty right hook from Wilson after a scuffle in the crease.
Things took an unexpected turn as Merzlikins threw the first punch. However, once Wilson got back on his feet, it didn't bode well for the goalie. Props to the officials for stepping in before Wilson could do more damage.
Check out the video of the incident here. The sheer intensity of these on-ice showdowns is what keeps us hockey fans right on the edge of our seats.
