In the hockey realm, player injuries are unfortunately becoming increasingly common, with the latest incident unfolding in a match between Bars Kazan and Metallurg Novokuznetsk in the All-Russian Hockey League (VHL).

During an offensive play by Barça hockey players, Kazan forward Ravil Yakupov took a fall, raising his leg high in the process. Unintentionally, Yakupov's skate made contact with Kuznya defender Vitaly Lyulko's neck as he descended. Lyulko, not wearing neck guards unlike some of his teammates, reacted immediately, shedding his leggings and clutching his throat.

The incident, eerily reminiscent of the tragic event in the EIHL that led to the passing of Adam Johnson, brought immediate concern. However, a positive update came from Lyulko's head coach Valeri Belov after the game. Belov assured,

"Everything is fine with Vitali Lyulko; the artery is not damaged, and the vessel has been sutured. Vitaly remains here in Kazan. We don't know yet how long he will stay here. The worst, thank God, is over. We wish Vitali good health."

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the inherent risks in the sport, prompting ongoing discussions about player safety and the necessity of protective equipment.
