The hockey community is mourning the loss of a former Boston Bruins rival following an announcement.

Yesterday, Boston Bruins rival, the Montreal Canadiens announced the passing of former Stanley Cup Champion, and legend Marcel Bonin.

The announcement was made official on the Montreal Canadiens X or formerly known as Twitter, and confirmed that he had passed away.

Bonin originally started his NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings in 1952-53. Later on in his career he would go on to join the Montreal Canadiens organization during the 1957-58 season and would go on to play with the organization for five years.

The entire Canadiens organization is saddened to learn of the passing of Marcel Bonin, who passed away Sunday at the age of 93.

In the five years he was apart of the Montreal Canadiens organization, Bonin would win three back-to-back Stanley Cups with the organization between the years of 1958, and 1960.

"In 454 career games with the Red Wings, Bruins and Canadiens, Bonin scored 97 goals and added 175 assists. The 5-foot-10 ,170 lb forward also produced 25 points (11G, 14A) in 50 career playoff appearances, winning his first Stanley Cup with Detroit in 1954-55.

Bonin enjoyed the most productive season of his career in 1959-60 when he recorded 51 points in 59 games with the Canadiens (17-34-51), in addition to tallying five points (1G, 4A) in eight postseason games."

Along with his three Stanley Cups during his time with the Montreal Canadiens, he would also be named to the NHL All-Star Game three times as well.

He initially won his first Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings during the 1954 season.

Bonin will definitely go down as a legend, and will be missed by his friends, family, and teammates.

May Bonin Rest in Peace.
